Province
of Ontario
School Health Requirements
All
students attending public school in the province of Ontario are required
to be immunized against diphtheria tetanus, polio, measles, mumps, and
rubella unless there is a legal exemption for medical or religious reasons.
Students require a Certificate of Immunization from the Ottawa Public
Health Department to register and begin classes. Obtaining this
certificate can take 2-5 days. Therefore, students are asked to
arrive early (2 weeks) and to bring their record of immunization with
them.
Health
Insurance
Medical,
hospital and dental care in Canada can be very expensive. International
students are not covered by the government public health plan and must
arrange health coverage through a private plan. Health insurance for one
year, therefore, has been included in the cost of school tuition fees.
