Committees

The Board may establish by resolution such Standing, Special Purpose and Ad Hoc Committees as it deems appropriate or as required under legislation or through contractual obligations.  Subject to any relevant legislation or contract, the Board can:

	determine their composition and the manner of selecting Chairs and members
	fix their terms of reference, reporting relationships and expected date of completion of mandate
	alter their composition, terms of reference, reporting relationships and expected date of completion of mandate, as it may deem appropriate from time to time
	dissolve committees

Standing Committees

The Board currently has four Standing Committees:

	Education Committee
	Business Services Committee
	Human Resources Committee
	Chairs’ Committe

Statutory Committees

The Board is required by provincial regulation to have the following Statutory Committees: 

Special Education Advisory Committee 

Supervised Alternative Learning for Excused Pupils Committee 

Within the Board’s by-laws and policies, the following other Ad hoc/Special Purpose/Advisory Committees are currently in place:  

	Ottawa-Carleton Coordinating Committee for the Education of Pupils with Developmental Disabilities (as per memorandum of agreement with the Ottawa Catholic School Board)
	Community Council for Ethnocultural Equity
	Audit Committee
	Committee of the Whole (Budget)
	Appeals Hearing Panels (in accordance with the Education Act and as per Board policy P.022.SCO)
	Expulsion Hearing Panels (in accordance with the Education Act and as per Board policy P.023.SCO)
	Advisory Committees to the Board (as per Board policy P.065.GOV)
	other Special Purpose Committees as the Board may from time to time determine by resolution or policy.
