What You Need to Bring
You must bring the following documentation with you to the appointment:

Immunization records |
School records |
The Assessment
All students are assessed to determine their level of English language proficiency in reading, writing, listening and speaking, in addition to their proficiency in mathematics. The assessments usually last about two hours for elementary students and from three to five hours for secondary students. The assessor will interview the parents and the student to gather information about the student’s:
Academic strengths and weaknesses |
Level of education |
Educational history |
Exceptionalities (for example, does the child have a learning disability?) |
Interests and goals |
Family issues that could affect schooling |
Level of English language proficiency |
Parents will be asked to complete a school registration form, along with a record of the child’s immunizations.
The assessor will complete a written report containing programming recommendations for English and Mathematics. The report takes between three and five working days to complete. For elementary students, the assessment report will be given to the parents. Parents must take this report with them when they go to register their child at school. Secondary student assessment reports are sent automatically to the student’s chosen school. Parents must then contact the school to make an appointment for registering their child.
