Parenting and Family Literacy Centres
"The Parenting and Family Literacy Centres offer a wonderful introduction to the kindergarten program by providing a play-based parent and child environment. Parents attend the Centres with their children who range in age from birth to age 6."
Kindergarten ProgramsKindergarten programs run for a half-day from Monday to Friday. Our dedicated and caring staff will help nurture your child’s individual physical, intellectual, social, and emotional needs. Built around organized educational activities within the context of play, our kindergarten program will build on your child’s natural world of curiosity, exploration, and imagination.
Junior kindergarten —
for children who are four years old by December 31.
Senior kindergarten —
for children who are five years old by December 31.
When your child reaches senior kindergarten, you have the option of choosing a Regular English Program or Early French Immersion Program for your child.
English ProgramYour child will learn mathematics, science, and technology, social studies, history, geography, health and physical education, the arts, and core French. Kindergarten children in the Regular English Program are taught French for 100 minutes per week. In grades 1 to 8, they receive 200 minutes per week.

French as a Second Language Programs
Our schools offer the most-widely available French Immersion programming in Ottawa. Your child can begin their French studies in junior kindergarten, progress to French Immersion in senior kindergarten, and continue right through secondary school.For further information on French as a Second Language, please click here.
French Immersion Programs
After successful completion through to the end of secondary school, your child will be able to participate easily in conversation, take postsecondary courses in French, and live and work in a French-speaking community.
Early French Immersion — Senior Kindergarten
Your child will learn in French 100 per cent of the time in senior kindergarten and grade 1. English is introduced in grade 2 and gradually increases through later grades.For further information on Early French Immersion, please click here.
Middle French Immersion — Grade 4
If your child has completed the grade 3 English/Core French Program, you can choose to enter the Middle French Immersion Program. All subjects are generally taught in French in grades 4, 5, and 6, except for English Language Arts. For further information on Middle French Immersion, please click here.
Late French Immersion — Grade 7 This program builds on the solid base your child has developed through the Core French Program from junior kindergarten to grade 6. French makes up between 70 and 75 per cent of the program in grades 7 and 8. For further information on Late French Immersion, please click here.
Alternative Elementary Programs —
Addressing Individual Interests and AptitudesStudents, teachers, and parents commit to working together as an educational team to encourage achievement. Active parental involvement is encouraged and appreciated. Alternative elementary programs meet all Board and provincial requirements while allowing greater concentration on individual student interests and aptitudes.
